WinDENDRO

WinDENDRO is offered as a complete system or software alone. Its hardware components goes from low cost (but precise) to faster and more precise high-end models. The WinDENDRO software on its side is offered in four versions differing in functionality and costs.

In comparison to manual measurement systems, WinDENDRO offers advantages from different points of view. Productivity gain, operator comfort, images archiving with or without their analysis, a working method that encourages and facilitates verifications (such as comparison with master series during measurements) and easy commands to move back and forth along an analysed sample (without mechanical delays or backlash).

Since its introduction WinDENDRO has been updated regularly (at least once a year) to make it on par with technological advances in image acquisition hardware (scanners and digital cameras), computers, operating systems and image analysis. It also has evolved based on suggestions from its large base of experienced users. It is a mature and robust system that has made its proofs in many laboratories worldwide as can be seen from the hundreds of publications made with it

WinSCANOPY

WinSCANOPY is a digital image analyser for canopy and solar radiations analysis which measures leaf area index, gap fraction, canopy openness, site factors and much more. It works from hemispherical images taken by a digital camera and a fisheye lens or from cover images with a narrower view angle. It is available as software alone or as a complete system offered in different versions ranging from low cost to high precision and full-featured. Some models are ultra compact and lightweight but still exhibit a very good image quality.

WinSCANOPY can be used in the laboratory, at remote locations on portable computers or in the field on ultra-portable computers which have a Windows operating system.

WinSCANOPY comes with color illustrated manuals and a fast and competent technical support. Its list of features makes it an excellent choice for the novice or the expert whether you are interested in canopy structure or radiation analysis. You can find in one single software program features that were found in different programs before.

WinRHIZO

WinRHIZO is an image analysis system specifically designed for root measurement in different forms. It can do morphology (length, area, volume...), topology, architecture and color analyses. It is made of a computer program and image acquisition components that can be combined to meet different needs and budgets.

WinRHIZO automatically or interactively analyses washed roots.

The root diameter distribution graphic displays the root length, area, volume or number of tips as a function of root diameter or color. The number and the width of the classes are user-definable and can be changed at any time.

WinRHIZO displays the analysis over the image. The color used to draw the root skeleton indicates into which diameter class the part of the root has been classified. The same color is used for drawing the root distribution graphic above the image.

Measurement data of the sample under analysis is summarized on screen and is available in detail in data files.

WinRHIZO Tron & Tron MFWinRHIZO Tron

WinRHIZO Tron & Tron MF are manual root measurement programs thatallow you to analyse images coming from minirhizotron underground video camera systems or other sources that do not always offer a good contrast between roots and their background.

The main difference between the two Tron versions:

*WinRHIZO Tron analyses one frame at a time

*WinRHIZO Tron MF analyses multiple frames simultaneously (MF=Multiple Frames)

In order to measure roots with WinRHIZO Tron you must manually trace them with the mouse over the image. As you trace roots to indicate their presence, WinRHIZO Tron measures them and display complete morphological information on screen. Any root segment or node can be modified (moved, re-sized, deleted or added) by clicking the mouse orpressing keyboard keys. As you modify the roots, morphological measurements and data in files are automatically updated.

The distribution of root length, area, volume or number of tips is displayed as a function of diameter in a graphic above the image. The color classes are the same as those used to draw the roots in the image. WinRHIZO Tron measures the real root diameter distribution rather than the average diameter as some other programs do. If a root segment encompasses three diameter classes, for example, the root length will be distributed among those three classes rather than only in the average class.

WinFOLIA

WinFOLIA is a computer image analysis system that accurately do morphological measurements on broad leaves. It comprises hardware for image acquisition (scanner or digital camera and accessories) and a computer program, WinFOLIA, specifically designed for leaf area, morphology and disease analysis. Different configurations are offered in function of measurements, speed, accuracy and portability.

WinSEEDLE

To digitize needles or seeds, WinSEEDLE uses an optical scanner with a special lighting system instead of a video camera. Scanners produce high resolution images free of illumination problems. It automatically detects and analyzes needles much more precisely than conventional area meters (conveyor or camera-based type).

WinSEEDLE is available in two different versions, Regular and Pro

The REGULAR VERSION measures the following parameters:

  • * Total projected area
  • * Individual and average projected area
  • * Individual and average straight length (length measured from end to end in a straight line)
  • * Individual and average curved length (length measured from end to end following the needle/seed center)
  • * Individual and average maximum width
  • * Individual and average curvature
  • * Needle/seed count
  • * Individual and average volume (estimated from projected area and 3 dimensional model)
  • * Individual and average surface area (estimated from projected area and 3 dimensional model)
  • * Perimeter

The PRO VERSION does all of the above measurements plus the following:

  • * Color measurement for disease quantification

WinCELL

WinCELL is an image analysis system specifically designed for wood cells analysis. It can quantify the changes in wood structure over annual rings.

Anatomical wood cell analysis is an alternative to wood density analysis with x-rays (as done with WinDENDRO). Wood density, color, mechanical and chemical properties are in effect related to wood structure which in turns is related to climate. By measuring the radial cells (tracheids) size, distribution and their proportion to walls, wood quality can be assessed.

WinCELL measures wood cell morphology on thin wood slices cut with a microtome or, for larger cells like earlywood vessels of deciduous species, directly on wood surfaces*. Wood cells morphological data can be measured per annual ring in one or more images per ring with the aid of XLCell, a companion program for data post-processing and visualization.

Image analysers not made specifically for wood cells measurement are not usually able to produce data suited for dendrochronology studies. These systems lack some knowledge about annual tree rings formation and the structure of their cells (to compute the ring width for example) so they don't know how measurements are done in this field. WinCELL has this kind of know-how built-in. It knows, for example, that a wall between two adjacent cells must be split in two to compute the cells length and earlywood or ring width. Its versatile settings allow to analyse different wood species (vessels of deciduous and radial row of conifer tracheids). It supports different automatic and interactive analysis modes. The latter allows you to select rows of cells to analyse them in a way that mimics the traditional trachedoid** method. WinCELL handles incomplete cells, those truncated by image boundary, so that they have no effects on the average cell measurements.

WinCAM

WinCAM also allows you to manually measure any objects length and diameter. WinCAM is a color based area meter and morphology analyser. It uses image analysis to quantify areas of different color that falls into ranges that you specify. It has a wide variety of applications. For example, it can measure the diseased area on fruits, leaves, flowers or any other material that shows a minimum of color contrast. WinCAM is very sensitive and can detect very small color differences. Its interactive design makes it very easy to use.
