HD2013 Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge

The HD2013 is a precision tipping-bucket rain gauge designed for reliable precipitation measurement in outdoor environmental monitoring applications. It collects rainfall through a calibrated tipping bucket, where each tip generates an electrical pulse for recording by a counter or data logger. The standard model measures liquid precipitation, while heated versions are available for applications involving mixed and solid precipitation.

Built with a rugged metal base, an aluminium collector cylinder and corrosion-resistant materials, the HD2013 is designed for long-term operation in demanding outdoor conditions. A removable filter helps prevent debris from entering the collector, while a non-adherent cone treatment promotes smooth water flow. Each unit is supplied pre-calibrated, with the calibration value indicated on the instrument label, and features an internal bubble level to support accurate horizontal installation.

The HD2013 offers flexible system integration through a standard voltage-free contact output, with optional 4–20 mA, 0–10 V and SDI-12 outputs. Heated versions operate on 12 VDC or 24 VDC, depending on the model, with heating activated at approximately +4°C to help prevent snow accumulation and ice formation. The rain gauge can be installed at ground level using adjustable support feet or elevated with an optional support bracket and mast. For enhanced measurement accuracy, correction curves can compensate for rainfall-rate-related errors and can be stored directly in models with analog or SDI-12 outputs.
